200+ Organizations Urge Senate Vote on Clarity Act
More than 200 crypto companies and organisations have sent a joint letter to the leaders of the US Senate with one clear message: vote on the Clarity Act. Major names such as Coinbase, Ripple, Kraken, Circle, a16z and Binance US have signed the letter, addressed to Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer. The sector is calling for the legislation to be brought to a vote as soon as possible.
What the Clarity Act entails
The Clarity Act has already passed the Senate Banking Committee with bipartisan support, which the signatories see as a historic moment for the American digital financial sector. The legislation aims to establish a comprehensive federal framework for digital asset markets, clarify supervisory responsibilities, make registration pathways workable, and provide protections for software developers.
According to the letter, the US faces a crucial choice: will the future of digital assets be built under American law and American oversight, or will innovation shift to foreign jurisdictions with less transparency and weaker consumer protections? The signatories argue that the Clarity Act keeps jobs, investment and market activity within the country and strengthens America’s position as a global leader in digital innovation.
Industry united behind legislation
The list of signatories is impressively broad. Alongside major exchanges and investors, it includes startups, trade associations and grassroots groups from across the country. Stand With Crypto, the Blockchain Association, the Crypto Council for Innovation and The Digital Chamber sign on behalf of the sector. They state that sustainable legislation transcends party lines and that the Clarity Act is the result of years of education and collaboration with policymakers.
The letter closes with an urgent call to bring the legislation to the Senate floor without further delay. The crypto sector wants clear rules of the road and sees this as the moment to finally establish them. Whether the Senate will act quickly remains to be seen.
