What is Tron?

Tron is a high-throughput blockchain founded in 2017 by Justin Sun, originally pitched as a way to decentralise digital content and now best known for something else entirely: moving stablecoins. A huge share of global USDT transfers run across Tron thanks to its low fees and fast confirmation. Its token, TRX, pays for network resources, can be staked, and gives holders voting rights.

Tron launched its own mainnet in 2018 after starting as a token on Ethereum, and uses a delegated proof-of-stake system in which holders vote for the validators that produce blocks.

Following the live Tron price

On this page you will find the live Tron price in both US dollars and euros, with the context you need to read the market. The chart opens on the last 7 days by default, and you can switch to 24 hours, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or a full year. Choose a period with the buttons and the chart updates instantly.

It is a quick way to set the short-term moves against the longer trend before you decide anything.

Market data at a glance

Beside the live rate, the page pulls together:

  • The intraday high and low.
  • Market capitalisation in dollars (B for billion, M for million).
  • Combined trading volume across the major exchanges.
  • The amount of TRX in circulation.
  • The all-time high, the date it was set and how far below it the price sits now.
  • Where you can buy TRX.
  • Links to the official website, whitepaper and social channels.

Convert TRX and see the real cost

The calculator turns any amount of TRX into dollars or euros in a moment, and it works in reverse too. Next to it sits an exchange fee calculator, so you can see what a trade really costs after fees and roughly how much TRX you would walk away with, not just the headline rate.

Historical Tron data

Under historical data you can look back at past prices on any date, shown in dollars as the market standard, with the matching trading volume and market cap.

From content network to stablecoin rail

TRX’s chart has tracked the project’s shifting focus:

  • 2017: an ICO raises tens of millions, with TRX selling for a fraction of a cent.
  • January 2018: an early peak around 0.30 dollars in the bull run, then a long decline.
  • 2018 onward: Tron builds out its DeFi and stablecoin ecosystem and becomes a leading venue for USDT transfers.
  • December 2024: TRX sets an all-time high around 0.44 dollars.
  • 2025: the token eases back into the high 0.20s even as network activity hits records.

That gap between heavy real-world use and a more subdued token is part of what makes TRX an unusual case.

What moves the Tron price?

The value of TRX reflects supply and demand, with one factor doing more work than most: how much stablecoin and on-chain activity the network carries. The main drivers:

Why the value climbs

  • Rising stablecoin transfer volume and overall network use.
  • Growth in DeFi and apps built on Tron.
  • Supportive tokenomics or lighter new supply.
  • Positive crypto news and a risk-on mood.

Why the value drops

  • Regulatory pressure or legal uncertainty around the project.
  • A shift of stablecoin volume toward rival chains.
  • Market-wide downturns or a global crisis.
  • A buy the rumour, sell the news reaction.

These are not the only drivers, but they cover most of the moves. For the stories behind each shift, follow our latest Tron news and our stablecoin news.
