Adam Back expects Bitcoin to $500k to $1 million by 2028
Adam Back, founder and CEO of Blockstream, has weighed in on a strikingly optimistic prediction: in his view, Bitcoin will reach between $500.000 and $1.000.000 before the end of the current halving cycle in 2028. According to the Bitcoin OG, this is not as far off as many people think, and could even happen within 24 months.
Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.
Retail interest and ETF demand drive price rally
Back explains that reaching these levels actually requires little more than what is already underway. Current ETF demand and retail interest are, in his view, entirely sufficient.
“It doesn’t take much effort,” says the Blockstream CEO, “we don’t need large institutional money to achieve these targets.”
With Bitcoin currently at $62K, a rise to $1 million would represent an impressive rally. Back’s confidence is based on the dynamics already present in the market. The Blockstream CEO sees the Bitcoin market already moving towards these targets.
Bitcoin’s market capitalisation will soon overtake gold
Back also believes that Bitcoin’s total market capitalisation will eventually surpass that of gold. This reflects his long-term vision of the place Bitcoin will occupy in the global financial landscape. According to him, we do not need to wait for mass institutional adoption to reach these milestones; they can come from further retail expansion and deeper ETF penetration.
Back’s prediction comes at a time when Bitcoin is experiencing various market dynamics. While his optimism stands out, price volatility and market sentiment remain factors that will determine the path to these record levels.
