Binance MiCA risk limited: EUR trading only 1% of volume
The risk that the European MiCA regulation deals a major blow to Binance is likely to be quite limited. A new analysis from CryptoQuant shows that EUR-denominated trading pairs account for only approximately 1% of the platform’s total spot trading volume. Moreover, this share remains stable despite all the media uproar around MiCA.
What does the data say about EUR trading on Binance?
Analyst Maartun of CryptoQuant delves into the figures and draws a clear conclusion: Binance’s exposure to the European market via EUR pairs is minimal. That 1% share has been at that level for some time and barely moves, indicating that recent MiCA news has had little impact on user trading behaviour.
The chart that CryptoQuant shares also shows when the most capital flows in during the day at major exchanges. Coinbase shows a clear peak around 15:00 UTC, which corresponds to the opening of the US market. Binance has a more even pattern throughout the day, while exchanges like HTX Global peak around noon. This pattern shows that Binance’s user base is globally diversified and not heavily dependent on one region.
MiCA causes unrest, but the impact remains limited
The Markets in Crypto Assets regulation, better known as MiCA, forces crypto exchanges active in the EU to meet strict requirements. This has recently led to speculation about Binance’s future on the European market. Earlier news already caused selling pressure; for example, the Bitcoin price dropped and triggered billions in sell pressure on Binance.
Nevertheless, the CryptoQuant analysis states that the direct financial exposure via EUR pairs is negligibly small. The majority of trading volume on Binance goes through USD pairs and other currencies. Anyone expecting major consequences based on MiCA news for Binance’s revenue or liquidity is, according to the data, looking at a risk that seems greatly exaggerated for now. The latest Binance news therefore does not necessarily follow the negative tone that some media maintain regarding European regulation.
