Biggest ETF inflow day of 2026 so far
According to analyst Darkfost, yesterday’s inflow was one of the strongest ETF days since the start of this year. While previous days sometimes brought in only $101 million, yesterday was almost seven times higher. The strong demand from institutional investors via ETFs is seen as a direct driver of the price rally.
On the Coinglass chart, yesterday’s large green inflow bar is clearly visible compared with the previous months. The Bitcoin price, shown as the gold line, meanwhile displayed a sharp upward move towards $81.000.
Short liquidations strengthen the rise
Besides the ETF inflow, forced closures of short positions played a role in the price action. More than $448 million in short positions was liquidated within 24 hours. When the price of Bitcoin rises, traders who had bet on a decline must close their positions, which automatically adds extra buying pressure.
Bitcoin currently stands at $80.700, up 3.9% over the past 24 hours. Ethereum and other major cryptocurrencies also appeared in the red on the liquidation chart, with $107.91 million and $273.08 million in liquidated positions for Ethereum and Bitcoin respectively.
