Bitcoin rises to $79.500 after bond intervention and CLARITY Act
Bitcoin rises to nearly $79.500 on Friday, a gain of almost 10% in 24 hours. The price surge follows two notable developments: the US Department of the Treasury is doubling its buyback programme for long-term government bonds, and President Trump is receiving crypto executives at the White House to further advance the CLARITY Act. Notably, tokenized assets are showing the strongest volume growth of all crypto categories.
Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.
In brief:
- Bitcoin rises almost 10% to $79.500 following a US Treasury bond intervention and political pressure from the White House.
- Trump meets crypto executives to discuss the CLARITY Act, legislation aimed at providing more clarity on the regulation of digital assets.
- Tokenized assets lead volume growth with a rise of 80.9% in 24 hours, well ahead of memecoins and DePIN.
Bonds and politics push Bitcoin higher
The US Treasury announced it would double its buyback of long-term government bonds. The measure is seen as a signal that the government wants to push down long-term interest rates, which is generally favourable for riskier investments such as Bitcoin.
At the same time, a meeting took place at the White House where Trump received crypto executives. The aim was to gather support for the CLARITY Act, a law that seeks to legally define the boundary between securities and digital assets. Bitcoin had already risen sharply in recent weeks, and the combination of these two developments now appears to be pushing the price further upward.
Tokenized assets lead volume growth with 80.9%
While traditional markets were relatively quiet over the past week, one category stood out in the crypto market: tokenized assets. According to data from CryptoRank, trading volume in this category rose by 80.9% in 24 hours, far above other segments.
Memecoins came in second place with volume growth of 35.6%, followed by DePIN with 27.3%. DeFi recorded a rise of 22.9%, currency tokens came in at 21% and GameFi rounded out the list with 14.9%. The broad volume growth across nearly all categories fits a market responding to positive macro news and political support from Washington.
At the time of writing, Bitcoin stands at $77.894, a daily gain of 8.3%. Whether the price can break through the $80.000 mark will depend in part on how the market interprets further political developments around the CLARITY Act and the Treasury’s bond policy.
