Cardano price under pressure after founder warning

Charles Hoskinson, founder of Cardano, warns that more decentralised finance applications may leave the platform in the second half of 2026. This follows the decision by TapTools to cease operations. Hoskinson indicates that Cardano is grappling with issues surrounding commercialisation, funding of ecosystem projects and governance matters.

Cardano is available at OKX and Bybit.

Governance structure hinders changes

The founder states clearly that he does not have the power to make unilateral adjustments. Hoskinson does not control the network treasury, has no command of the governance keys and cannot change the protocol parameters himself. This is seen as a significant limitation in addressing the current challenges facing the Cardano network.

This structure, while intended to ensure decentralisation, now appears rather to be a barrier to rapid problem-solving. The lack of central control makes it difficult to intervene quickly when projects decide to cease their work on the platform.

A radical plan for a reset

Hoskinson raised an extremely rigorous option: launching an entirely new Cardano network via proof of burn. This would allow a reset of tokenomics and funding mechanisms for institutional parties. The proposal indicates how seriously the problems are being assessed, but also raises questions about the future of the current Cardano.

Hoskinson’s warning comes at a time when the Cardano price is under pressure. With a price of $0.16 and a decline of 0.4% in 24 hours, investors are showing that they are concerned about the future prospects of the network.
