Crypto exchange BitMart announces that it is ceasing its operations. After a careful evaluation of the business conditions, the market environment and the future strategic direction, the platform has decided to close its doors. The shutdown will be phased and users have until January 2027 to withdraw their funds.

Phased shutdown of the platform

The discontinuation of BitMart is proceeding in stages. From 26 July 2026 at 01:30 UTC, new registrations, deposits and new trading orders have already been suspended. On 26 August 2026, all trading services will be fully stopped. Thereafter, on 31 January 2027 at 15:59 UTC, the final closure of the platform will take place.

BitMart urges all users to take action as soon as possible. The company advises everyone to close open positions, complete KYC if not already done, and withdraw funds as early as possible. The withdrawal function will remain available for the time being.

From top 10 to closure: a turbulent history

BitMart was still a serious player in the crypto world in 2021. The platform focused mainly on altcoins and attracted many retail investors. Its 24-hour trading volume was among the top 10 globally at that time. Investors such as Fenbushi and Hack VC came on board in 2021 at a valuation of $300 million.

However, things went seriously wrong at the end of 2021. BitMart fell victim to a major hack in which nearly $200 million was stolen, leading to ongoing operational issues. BitMart’s closure follows that of BitMEX, which also shut its doors earlier.

BitMart’s platform token, BMX, has reacted sharply to the news. Over the past 24 hours, the price has fallen by approximately 63%. These are the direct consequences for anyone still holding BMX.
