Curve founder slams Pump.fun and Phantom wallet

Michael Egorov, the founder of Curve Finance, is openly critical of two well-known names in the Solana ecosystem. He describes Pump.fun as a casino of scams and says the user experience of the Phantom wallet is worse than that of MetaMask. At the same time, he acknowledges that Solana supports the ecosystem well, but he does not think the most famous examples are particularly strong.

Egorov critical of Pump.fun and Phantom

Egorov shared his views in a reply on X. He describes Pump.fun as a platform that functions as a casino of scams in the form of memecoins. About Phantom, he says the wallet barely works properly, at least not when you try to connect it to a hardware wallet. The connection eventually succeeded, but the user experience was, in his eyes, worse than MetaMask’s.

His criticism is noteworthy because Phantom and Pump.fun are among the most used applications in the Solana ecosystem. Egorov also says that Solana itself supports the ecosystem well, but that the best examples nevertheless disappoint.

Tomi204 and Egorov differ in opinion

Tomi204, co-founder of ClawPump, responded to the remarks. According to him, Pump.fun only offers a service and it is the users who decide how they use it. About Phantom, he says the wallet is probably the best option for the average user.

Egorov stuck to his position and added a broader observation: in his view, wallets and other software often deteriorate once they have gained recognition in the market.
