In the first half of 2026, more tokens are disappearing from exchanges than ever before, with DeFi, GameFi and memecoin categories hit the hardest. This is according to new data from CryptoRank, which reveals a clear pattern: the categories with the most delistings are precisely those that were most popular for listing during the previous cycle.

DeFi tops the list with 207 delistings

With no fewer than 207 delisted tokens, DeFi sits firmly at the top of the ranking. According to CryptoRank, this is partly explained by the fact that DeFi was also the most listed category in 2025. What goes up can therefore come down hard. In second place is GameFi with 141 delistings, a sector that grew enormously during the last bull run but is now being heavily pruned.

Memecoins follow in third place with 98 delisted tokens. This is striking, but not surprising: the selling pressure on memecoins has been noticeable for some time. More information on the latest developments in that market can be found on our memecoin news page.

Blockchain and infrastructure also hit hard

Further down the list are blockchain-related tokens with 82 delistings, followed by blockchain services (69) and social tokens (68). Infrastructure projects account for 58 delistings. These categories show that the market cleanup is broad and not limited to the best-known speculative niches.

NFT tokens are delisted 31 times, while DePIN and AI projects each record 19 delistings. Although those numbers are relatively low, they are also relatively new categories that had fewer listings in earlier cycles. The pattern that CryptoRank outlines is clear: exchanges are clearing out what was added en masse during the hype, and the bill is now landing with the projects that failed to deliver on their promise.
