EDX Markets raises $76 million in Series C round led by SBI Holdings
EDX Markets, an institutional crypto exchange, has completed a $76 million funding round. The Series C round is led by Japan’s SBI Holdings, and the capital raised will be used to further expand the company’s trading, clearing and settlement infrastructure.
What will EDX Markets do with the money?
In addition to the infrastructure expansion, EDX Markets will deploy the funds to accelerate product development and scale its global operations. The company is fully focused on the institutional market and aims to strengthen its position in that segment with this investment, according to PR Newswire.
Earlier this year, EDX already launched the platform EDX FlowConnect, a crypto-as-a-service solution for institutional parties. Anyone looking for a crypto exchange for personal use can find a comprehensive overview of the best options on our platform.
EDX Trust: a national trust bank for digital assets
Alongside the capital round, EDX Markets has also submitted an application to the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for the establishment of EDX Trust. This would be a proposed national trust bank focused on regulated custody, clearing and settlement of digital assets.
EDX Markets’ ambition is clear: the company wants to bring the entire infrastructure for institutional crypto trading in-house. With SBI Holdings as the lead investor in the Series C round, EDX gains a strong strategic partner that has been active in the digital asset sector for some time.
