Ethereum reaches 70 million unique contracts on the blockchain
The Ethereum network is setting a notable milestone: the number of unique smart contracts on the blockchain has passed the 70 million mark for the first time. While the Ethereum price is currently hovering around $1.875, this on-chain statistic shows that activity on the network is increasing strongly.
Ethereum is available at OKX and Bybit.
In brief:
- The number of unique smart contracts on Ethereum exceeds 70 million.
- The chart shows an almost vertical rise in 2025 and 2026.
- Analysts see this as a sign of increasing activity on the network, independent of price movements.
Explosive growth in smart contracts
Data from CryptoQuant shows that the number of unique contracts on the Ethereum network has been climbing steadily in recent years, but the latest period is particularly striking. Whereas growth was previously gradual, the chart shoots up almost vertically in 2025 and 2026. This is a clear sign that developers and projects are building new applications on the network at a rapid pace.
Analyst Darkfost points out that this is one of the most positive charts currently available for Ethereum. According to him, the number of unique contracts says more about the health of the network than daily price fluctuations. Ethereum has recently been holding above $1.850, but on-chain activity tells a different story than the market price alone.
What do 70 million contracts mean?
A unique smart contract is a piece of code that is permanently stored on the blockchain and can execute transactions independently without the intervention of a third party. Think of DeFi protocols, NFT collections, decentralised applications and token projects. The more contracts are active, the more the network is being used.
The jump to 70 million contracts shows that the Ethereum network is expanding at a rapid pace. At the same time, Ethereum is trading at $1.875,65 at the time of writing, an increase of 0.3% over the past 24 hours. Companies such as Bitmine have already built up substantial positions in Ethereum, which indicates that institutional players also retain confidence in the network over the longer term.
