Gate.com quietly builds a TradFi hub within crypto
Gate.com is quietly building one of the most comprehensive traditional financial trading environments within the crypto market. This is according to an analysis by CryptoQuant, in which analyst CryptoOnchain examines the growth of the TradFi offering on the platform. From equities and precious metals to oil: traders can trade an increasing number of traditional assets without needing a conventional broker.
Rotation from equities to gold and oil
The data from CryptoQuant reveals a clear shift in trading behaviour on Gate.com. At the start of 2025, equities still dominate daily volume, but thereafter the share of precious metals such as gold and silver rapidly increases. In the period around early 2026, gold is by far the most popular asset class, with daily volumes regularly exceeding $1 billion. Gold shows volume growth of no less than 719% over the measured period.
Oil only emerges as a significant category later in the year, but quickly grows to a substantial share of total volume. The rotation reflects broader market uncertainty: when equities come under pressure, traders seek refuge in safe havens such as gold, and on Gate.com this increasingly happens without leaving the platform. “A trader can go long on Nvidia during the earnings report, and then hedge into tokenised gold when uncertainty strikes, without ever leaving the platform or touching a traditional broker,” CryptoOnchain states in the analysis.
Gate.com performs strongly on the peak day of TradFi trading
On 23 March 2026, the peak day for TradFi volume on crypto exchanges, Gate.com processed $1.5 billion in volume. This places the platform fifth in the exchange rankings, behind Binance ($12.5 billion), MEXC ($4.2 billion), KuCoin Futures ($3.6 billion) and Bitget ($2.2 billion). Bybit came in at $955 million on the same day.
Looking at the most popular equities on the platform, Tesla (TSLAX) leads the list with a cumulative all-time volume of $1.7 billion. Nvidia (NVDAX) and Circle (CRCLX) follow with $1.1 billion and $1.0 billion respectively. Then come names such as S&P 500 tracker SPCX ($655 million), MicroStrategy (MSTRX, $375 million) and Coinbase (COINX, $348 million). The breadth of the offering shows that Gate.com is not focusing on a single theme, but rather provides a wide range of tradable assets. The rise of such integrated trading platforms fits a broader trend in which institutional and retail investors are increasingly combining crypto and traditional finance.
