Cryptocurrency market maker GSR has made significant adjustments to its Core3 model portfolio. Solana now receives the largest weighting at 43.6%, while Bitcoin falls back to 16.9%. Ethereum sits in between with 39.5%. The shift follows changing signals in GSR’s relative performance model, which indicates which coins currently offer the strongest risk-adjusted opportunities.

In short:

  • GSR raises the Solana weighting in its Core3 model portfolio to 43.6%, making it the largest position of the three.
  • Bitcoin now receives only 16.9% of the portfolio, while Ethereum gets 39.5%.
  • Over the past week, Solana performed best with a gain of 2.98%, while Ethereum rose the most over the month with 7.88%.

Solana is available at OKX and Bybit.

Solana takes the lead

The latest update of GSR’s Core3 model shows that Solana now holds the largest position in the portfolio. With a weighting of 43.6%, Solana overtakes Ethereum, which stands at 39.5%. Bitcoin must settle for just 16.9%, a notably low weighting for the world’s largest cryptocurrency. The Bitcoin price currently stands at $64K and has shown barely any movement over the past 24 hours.

The shift in the portfolio results from signals in GSR’s own performance model, which measures the relative alpha of each coin. On a weekly basis, Solana indeed shows the strongest performance: a gain of 2.98%, while Bitcoin lost 1.02% and Ethereum gave back 0.20%. Over that same week, the Core3 strategy as a whole posted a return of 0.85%.

Ethereum strongest over a month

Looking at performance over a month, a different picture emerges. Ethereum tops the list with a rise of 7.88%, followed by the Core3 strategy with 5.30% and Bitcoin with 3.19%. Solana lags behind over this period with a gain of 2.44%. Ethereum is thus breaking its downtrend against Bitcoin, which is also visible in the relatively high weighting it still receives in the GSR portfolio.

On an annual basis and across all of 2026 so far, all strategies are deeply in the red. The Core3 portfolio loses 70.28% on an annual basis and 35.58% year-to-date. By comparison, holding only Bitcoin results in a loss of 52.51% over a year, which is lower than the Core3 approach. The higher volatility of Solana and Ethereum clearly weighs on the long-term figures, although with the new allocation GSR is clearly betting on a recovery through the coins with the strongest short-term signals.
