Hyperliquid will enable permissionless deployment of HIP-4 contracts in the next network upgrade, according to Hyperliquid founder Jeff. HIP-4 templates will then be gradually made available through a vote by validators. The HYPE token is trading at $81 at the time of writing, down 2.9% over the past 24 hours.

HYPE is available at OKX and Bybit.

In short:

  • Hyperliquid activates HIP-4 without a permission requirement in the next network upgrade
  • Templates to be released step by step via validator vote
  • HYPE trades at $81, down 2.9% in 24 hours

HIP-4 becomes accessible without permission

HIP-4 is a standard on the Hyperliquid network that allows developers to launch token projects. Until now, this process was only accessible to a limited degree, but that is about to change. Once the next upgrade is implemented, anyone will be able to roll out a HIP-4 contract without prior approval.

Founder Jeff announced this on 29 August 2026. According to him, HIP-4 templates will be released gradually after the upgrade, with validators deciding through a vote which templates become available.

Validators take central role in releasing templates

The decision to make templates available through a validator vote gives validators within the Hyperliquid network direct influence over the development of the ecosystem. This maintains control over which standard contracts are offered, even as deployment itself becomes fully open.

It has not yet been announced exactly when the network upgrade is expected.
