Kraken launches AI-driven agentic trading for users
Crypto exchange Kraken is making a major move into artificial intelligence. The company is preparing to launch so-called agentic trading, where autonomous AI agents independently monitor the market, spot opportunities and execute trades on behalf of the user. That is according to CNBC, based on an exclusive interview with the firm.
AI as a personal trader for ordinary users
The idea behind agentic trading is that ordinary people gain access to the capabilities of a professional high frequency trader without needing any expertise themselves. Kamo Asatryan, chief data officer at Kraken, explains it to CNBC as follows: “In this new world, there is an opportunity for ordinary people to trade like a high frequency trader, simply by having a conversation in plain language with a well-informed best friend.”
The AI agents operate based on goals set by the user. They continuously monitor markets, recognise trading opportunities and automatically execute transactions. Users no longer have to sit behind their screens to enter or exit positions at the right moment.
Kraken evolves into a broad financial platform
The introduction of agentic trading fits into a broader strategy at Kraken. The company wants to evolve from a crypto exchange into a full-fledged financial platform that also includes payments, banking services and lending. In doing so, Kraken is targeting a much wider audience than just the seasoned crypto trader.
Kraken is not alone in taking this direction. The exchange joins a growing movement in the sector where more and more players are deploying AI to expand their services, even as the crypto market has been under pressure for some time. Earlier, Kraken was already actively strengthening its European position: the company leads MiCA exchanges in liquidity and market coverage. With the addition of AI-driven trading, it aims to further build on that lead.
