LBank weekly overview: RWA, Pudgy Penguins and volume growth
Crypto exchange LBank shares its weekly review covering a period with several developments: a new phase in the collaboration with Pudgy Penguins, the addition of USDY via Ondo Finance, strong growth in spot volume and the launch of a new automated investment product. In addition, an incident surrounding Core DAO played a role in how the platform handles risk management.
In short:
- LBank’s spot volume rose by 16.5% in August compared with the previous month, with a market share of 3.4%.
- USDY from Ondo Finance is now available on LBank, giving users access to interest-bearing securitised assets.
- LBank launched Spot Auto-Invest, a product that allows users to build positions automatically, linked to a campaign with 50,000 USDT in rewards.
Pudgy Penguins and AFA mark cultural ambitions
The collaboration between LBank and Pudgy Penguins is expanding further. The campaign, with a total value of $500.000, received a new local twist around Brazilian Independence Day. According to LBank, this is deliberately not a one-off marketing action, but an ongoing collaboration focused on community, trading and local markets.
The relationship with the Argentine Football Association AFA also took centre stage this week. Now that Lionel Messi is saying farewell to the national team, LBank joined the commemorative actions surrounding his career. The exchange regards the partnership with AFA as a structural part of its brand identity, not as a temporary campaign.
USDY available and spot volume grows strongly
Through a partnership with Ondo Finance, USDY is now tradable on LBank. The token provides access to interest-bearing products tied to the real economy, also known as real-world assets or RWA. The launch was picked up by financial media outside the crypto world, including TheStreet. The advance of tokenised assets towards broader financial markets thus continues.
August was also a strong month for the spot trading platform. Volume rose by 16.5% compared with July, and LBank reached a spot market share of 3.4%. Tokens such as PONS and AI1 recorded price gains of more than 12.000%, although these are smaller, emerging assets with generally limited liquidity.
New product and Core DAO incident
LBank introduced Spot Auto-Invest, a feature that allows users to build spot positions periodically and automatically without having to monitor the market continuously. The launch comes with a rewards campaign of 50,000 USDT.
In addition, an incident involving Core DAO played out this week, in which a problem with a validator led LBank to temporarily suspend deposits of CORE tokens at the project’s request. The platform says it communicated openly with users about this. Several international crypto publications wrote about the way LBank responded to the incident.
