Mega tech companies lose $2.3 trillion in June
The seven largest technology companies in the world have taken a heavy hit in June. The Magnificent 7, consisting of Apple, Microsoft, Nvidia, Amazon, Alphabet, Meta and Tesla, have collectively lost approximately $2.3 trillion in market value. This makes June their worst month in over a year.
Sharp decline for tech giants
With a decline of around 10% in June, the month is recorded as a disappointment for the sector. Over the first half of this year, these companies have collectively lost roughly 3% of their value. These are palpable losses that are jolting investors awake.
Microsoft is feeling the pain most acutely. The software company alone loses more than $350 billion in June, representing its worst performance in six years. This illustrates how volatile the technology market currently is and how quickly sentiment can turn.
What the figures say
The massive loss of value points to diminishing confidence in tech stocks. Whether this is due to fundamental reasons or merely a correction after months of strong growth remains to be seen. Many investors are closely monitoring developments, especially as these large stocks often serve as a barometer for the broader market.
