Metaplanet, the Japanese listed company often compared to MicroStrategy, is buying no less than 2,823 Bitcoin in the second quarter of 2026. The total purchase amounts to approximately 35.89 billion yen, or about $221 million. This brings the company’s total Bitcoin position to 43,000 BTC.

Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.

From 40,177 to 43,000 Bitcoin in One Quarter

At the end of the first quarter, Metaplanet held 40,177 BTC. Thanks to the purchases in Q2, that position has now grown to 43,000 BTC as of 30 June 2026. The average purchase price across the entire Bitcoin treasury comes to around 15.33 million yen per coin.

The BTC yield for the second quarter stands at 6.6%, according to the table published by the company. By comparison, that yield was still 2.8% in the first quarter of 2026, and in the second quarter of 2025 it amounted to an impressive 129.4%. The BTC gain over Q2 2026 is 2,637 BTC, which in yen terms comes to roughly 25.08 billion yen.

Metaplanet Continues to Grow as Major Bitcoin Treasury Player

Metaplanet now ranks as one of the largest listed Bitcoin treasury companies in the world. The strategy closely resembles that of MicroStrategy: systematically buying Bitcoin and using the coin as the primary reserve asset. With a fully diluted share capital of more than 1.63 billion shares, the number of Bitcoin per share stands at 0.0263554.

Metaplanet’s rise fits into a broader trend in which companies are placing large amounts of Bitcoin on their balance sheets. At the same time, the Bitcoin price has recently shown some volatility around the $60.000 mark. Currently, Bitcoin is trading at $60K, up 2.9% over the past 24 hours.
