Phantom to end Sui support on 24 September

Crypto wallet Phantom will stop supporting the Sui network on 24 September 2026. Phantom and Sui jointly announced this. After that date, users will no longer be able to view, send, swap or manage their Sui tokens through Phantom. Funds will not be lost: they remain on the Sui blockchain and can simply be accessed through another wallet using the same credentials.

Two options for Sui users

Phantom offers users two ways to secure their Sui tokens before the deadline. The first option is to swap Sui tokens to a supported network within Phantom itself. Phantom has waived its fees for cross-chain swaps from native SUI to wrapped SUI on Solana until the transition date. Other swaps, such as to SOL, ETH or USDC, are also possible, but standard fees apply to those.

The second option is to switch to another wallet that continues to support Sui. Phantom points users to Slush, the wallet recommended by the Sui Foundation. Users can export their recovery phrase via Phantom’s settings and import it into Slush. Their address and tokens will then appear automatically.

Funds remain safe after the deadline

Those who miss the deadline lose nothing. Phantom is a so-called self-custodial wallet, meaning tokens are held on the blockchain itself and are not managed by Phantom. The switch only changes what the app displays, not what the user owns. Tokens remain on the Sui blockchain and can always be accessed through a compatible wallet with the same recovery phrase or private key.

Phantom explicitly warns users about scammers exploiting the transition. The company will never contact users directly to help move tokens, nor will it ever ask for a recovery phrase or private key. Anyone receiving such an offer is dealing with a scam. All official instructions are available in the app and in Phantom’s help centre.

Whether and when Phantom and Sui might work together again remains unclear. Both parties are keeping the door open for future collaboration, but there are no concrete plans for now. Michaël van de Poppe recently discussed a possible opportunity for Sui at the current price level.
