Ripple launches institutional platform for minting RLUSD
Ripple has introduced Ripple Mint, a new platform specifically designed for institutional clients. The service allows them to mint, redeem, bridge and manage their own RLUSD stablecoin, both via a web interface and through an API. Existing clients also gain access to additional monitoring and automation tools.
XRP is available at OKX and Bybit.
What exactly is Ripple Mint?
Ripple Mint is fully focused on the institutional market. RLUSD is issued by Standard Custody & Trust Company, LLC, a trust company licensed by the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). According to Ripple, this regulatory foundation is essential for institutional adoption, as large players require transparency and oversight.
The platform offers a complete toolset for managing RLUSD positions at scale, including real-time balance tracking, transaction automation, and the ability to quickly switch between chains via the bridge functionality. With this, Ripple is targeting growing demand from banks, asset managers and other financial institutions that want to integrate stablecoins into their existing infrastructure. RLUSD grows, but monthly volume drops sharply
RLUSD’s market capitalisation currently stands at approximately $1.5 billion, demonstrating that the stablecoin is gaining serious ground in the market. Yet not all figures are positive: the monthly transfer volume fell by about 25%, from roughly $14.6 billion to $11 billion. This is a notable decline, although Ripple has offered no specific explanation.
Meanwhile, the XRP price is trading at $1.09, down 1.5% over the past 24 hours. The launch of Ripple Mint aligns with Ripple’s broader strategy of building a complete ecosystem around payments and digital assets for the financial sector. More details about the platform can be found on the official Ripple website.
