Savings Rates Remain Low, New OKX Promotion Attracts Attention

Dutch savers still receive little interest on traditional accounts. At major banks such as ING and ABN AMRO, the yield hovers around 1.25% per year, while Rabobank and ASN Bank come in slightly higher at 1.30% to 1.40%. Anyone saving ten thousand euros thus earns barely one hundred to one hundred and forty euros per year.

Precisely because of these meagre returns, more and more Dutch people are looking at alternatives outside the traditional banking sector. Crypto platform OKX is now announcing an attractive campaign for users in the Netherlands and Belgium.

OKX campaign runs until end of July

OKX launches a promotion running from 29 June to 31 July 2026. The platform offers an 8% bonus on all new deposits, for both new and existing users. It concerns an offer on deposits between 10 and 250,000 euros, with a maximum bonus of 20,000 euros per person. The total bonus pool amounts to ten million euros.

The bonus is paid out in USDC, the popular stablecoin from Circle. To participate, you must register for the campaign via the OKX app before making a deposit. Remarkably, you do not need to actively trade. The money only needs to remain on the platform for the duration of the promotion period. Payments are made in two weekly tranches, starting on 3 August.

Return far above traditional savings accounts

A quick comparison reveals how attractive this bonus is. Anyone depositing one thousand euros receives an 80 euro bonus. At ING, you would earn only 12.50 euros in interest per year on the same amount. With a deposit of 10,000 euros, the OKX bonus amounts to 800 euros, while Trade Republic, currently one of the most profitable savings alternatives with 3% interest, would yield 300 euros. For larger amounts, the difference widens further. With 50,000 euros, you get a bonus of 4,000 euros at OKX, compared to just 700 euros at Rabobank.

Important here: this is a temporary promotional bonus, not a fixed annual interest rate. However, it seems that such promotions are increasingly attracting the attention of savers who are disappointed with their current banks. OKX is thus explicitly positioning itself as an alternative to traditional saving.
