Securitize raises $400 million via SPAC deal and lists on NYSE
Securitize, the company currently tokenising over $4 billion in real-world assets, is poised to take a major step on the US stock market. Through a merger with Cantor Equity Partners II, the company expects to raise approximately $400 million, after which a listing on the NYSE will follow.
Less than 30% of shareholders redeem
A notable detail from the deal is that less than 30% of the SPAC shareholders have redeemed their shares. That is a relatively low percentage and ensures that the vast majority of the capital remains within the structure, directly contributing to the expected proceeds of $400 million.
According to PR Newswire, the shareholder meeting on 29 June must approve the merger. If it does, the deal is expected to close on 1 July.
Listing expected on 2 July under ticker SECZ
After the deal closes, the combined company will be ready to start trading on the New York Stock Exchange on 2 July under the ticker SECZ. That makes Securitize one of the few blockchain-related companies to secure a full listing on one of the world’s largest exchanges.
Securitize focuses on tokenising traditional financial assets on the blockchain, also known as real-world assets. With over $4 billion in tokenised assets on its books, the company is rapidly growing into a serious player in this segment.
