Kyle Samani, co-founder of investment firm Multicoin Capital, has made a striking statement about his former employer. He warns anyone actively building within the Solana ecosystem that Multicoin Capital is actively working against their interests. The comments come after Multicoin filed a joint submission with the US CFTC, together with the Hyperliquid Policy Center.

Samani criticises Multicoin’s joint CFTC filing

The trigger for Samani’s outburst is a document that Multicoin Capital filed jointly with the Hyperliquid Policy Center with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). In that document, the two parties argue that the CFTC should become the sole federal regulator for exchange-listed prediction markets. They also call for clearer rules and greater transparency when approving contracts.

Samani has reacted sharply to this initiative, stating on X that anyone building within the Solana ecosystem should understand that Multicoin is working against everything you as a developer are building. With that, he openly picks a fight with the company he himself co-founded.

Samani previously stepped back as managing partner

Kyle Samani stepped back as managing partner of Multicoin Capital in February 2026, but has since remained an outspoken voice within the Solana world. His departure was already seen at the time as a break with the company’s direction. Now he is making that break publicly visible.

According to reporting by Wu Blockchain, the criticism goes beyond personal frustration. Samani sees the collaboration between Multicoin and Hyperliquid as a direct attack on the ecosystem that Solana developers are trying to build. Whether other prominent voices within the Solana community will join him remains unclear for now.
