On crypto exchange Gate, trading volume in stocks is surging. On 1 and 2 June, daily volume reached around $30 million, the second highest level in three months. Only on 5 March was that figure higher. The resurgence points to growing demand for equity exposure through crypto platforms, and the recent partnership with AlpacaHQ has added fuel to the fire.

Circle and NVIDIA drive volumes higher

The lion’s share of the activity comes from Circle (CRCL) and NVIDIA (NVDA). It is easy to understand why Circle is popular among crypto traders: as the issuer of USDC, the company has long been familiar territory in the crypto world. NVIDIA also resonates well with the audience, as the stock is known for its high growth and sharp price movements.

During the two trading days, the NVIDIA share rose by more than 7%, which attracted additional traders. That sharp movement created speculative momentum and helps explain why the volume increased so quickly. For traders accustomed to crypto volatility, a stock like NVIDIA fits that profile well.

Partnership with AlpacaHQ opens doors to more stocks

The timing of the volume spike coincides with the announcement of a partnership between Gate and AlpacaHQ. Thanks to that deal, users gain access to over 10,000 stocks and ETFs from a single platform. That is a significant step for an exchange that has traditionally focused purely on crypto.

If more crypto exchanges continue to add traditional assets, Gate clearly has room to grow further in this area. The question is whether this is a temporary spike or the start of a structural trend in which crypto platforms increasingly take on the role of traditional brokers.
