Strategy, the company of Michael Saylor known for its aggressive Bitcoin purchasing strategy, is selling Bitcoin on a large scale for the first time. In two transactions, on 30 June and 6 July 2026, the company offloaded a total of 3,588 BTC worth approximately $225.6 million. This is apparent from data on the official website of Strategy.

Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.

First major Bitcoin sale in the history of Strategy

According to the published figures, Strategy recorded a sale of 1,363 BTC on 30 June, followed by a sale of 2,225 BTC on 6 July. These are the first significant sales the company has executed. Previously, Strategy sold a symbolic 32 BTC, but an exit of this magnitude is new territory for the company.

The move is drawing attention from the Bitcoin community, as Strategy acted solely as a buyer in the market for years. Analysts closely followed the company as a barometer of institutional interest in Bitcoin. Earlier, analysts wrote about the possibility that Strategy would rise significantly in value thanks to Bitcoin](/news/analysts-see-strategy-rise-to-570-thanks-to-bitcoin/).

Bitcoin reserve declines but remains enormous

Despite the sales, Strategy still holds 843,775 BTC as of 6 July. The Bitcoin price stands at $63.700 at the time of writing, an increase of 1.6% in the past 24 hours. The total reserve therefore represents a value of over $53.7 billion.

From the table on the Strategy website, it is also striking that the BTC Yield Year-to-date fell from 8.1% on 30 June to 7.8% on 6 July. The dollar profit on Bitcoin (BTC Gain YTD) stood at $3.275 million as of 6 July, slightly less than the $3.206 million reported on 30 June. Whether this is the start of a structural selling strategy or a one-off move remains unclear for now. The market is closely watching the next reports from Strategy.
