The South Korean internet bank Toss Bank has joined forces with the Solana Foundation. On 19 June, the two parties signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) in Seoul to collaborate on blockchain-based financial infrastructure. Specifically, it involves testing international money transfers and exploring the use of stablecoins for cross-border payments. Digital Today reports.

Solana is available at OKX and Bybit.

First direct collaboration of its kind

Toss Bank is the third-largest pure digital bank in South Korea and is making a notable move with this agreement. It is the first time that a South Korean internet bank has entered into a direct strategic collaboration with the Solana Foundation. Previous partnerships in the sector typically occurred through broader consortia or indirect partners, not through a direct bilateral agreement like this one.

The news comes at a time when the Solana price stands at $73,86. up 1.3% in the past 24 hours. Analysts are closely watching the price, with two scenarios being distinguished for the further direction of Solana.

Stablecoins and tokenized assets in focus

The collaboration begins with international money transfers, but the ambitions extend further. Toss Bank says it will gradually explore the feasibility of blockchain infrastructure for payments, digital assets and tokenized assets. Stablecoins play a central role in this, particularly as a tool for more efficient and cheaper cross-border transactions. The recent stablecoin news, however, also shows another side: the msUSD stablecoin recently crashed by 85% after the termination of a verification contract.

For the Solana network, this partnership is a clear signal that traditional financial institutions are taking the technology increasingly seriously. The combination of low transaction costs and high processing speed makes Solana attractive for applications in the payments world. Toss Bank leaves open whether and when the collaboration will lead to concrete products for consumers.
