What is BNB?

BNB, once known as Binance Coin and now tied to the “Build and Build” idea, is the native token of BNB Chain and the wider Binance ecosystem. It launched through an ICO in 2017 at around 0.15 dollars, first as a token on Ethereum before moving to its own blockchain in 2019. Holders use it for discounted trading fees, gas on BNB Chain, staking and access to new projects.

A defining feature is its shrinking supply. Binance burns BNB every quarter, steadily reducing the total from an original 200 million toward a target of 100 million coins.

Following the live BNB price

On this page you will find the live BNB price in both US dollars and euros, alongside the data you need to track the market. The chart shows the last 7 days by default, and you can switch the view to 24 hours, 7 days, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months or a full year. Tap a button and it redraws straight away.

That makes it simple to weigh up recent action against the bigger picture before drawing conclusions.

Together with the live rate, the page collects:

  • The day’s high and low.

From ICO to BNB Chain

BNB’s value has grown hand in hand with Binance itself:

  • 2017: an ICO at roughly 0.15 dollars, with the token reaching about 11 dollars by year end.
  • 2018: a peak near 24 dollars early in the year, then a slide through the bear market.
  • 2019: BNB migrates to its own blockchain as Binance keeps expanding.
  • 2021: a market-wide bull run lifts BNB into the hundreds of dollars.
  • 2025: BNB sets an all-time high around 1,370 dollars in October.

Each quarter the burn removes more coins from circulation, a steady counterweight to new demand that few other large tokens share.

What moves the BNB price?

Because BNB sits at the heart of the largest exchange, its value tracks two things at once: how heavily the platform is used, and how much supply the burns take out. The main drivers:

Why the value climbs

  • Strong trading and activity across Binance and BNB Chain.
  • A quarterly burn shrinking the supply.
  • Growth in projects, staking and apps in the ecosystem.
  • Positive crypto news and a risk-on mood.

Why the value drops

  • Regulatory pressure on Binance itself.
  • A slowdown in platform activity or trading volume.
  • Market-wide downturns or a global crisis.
  • A buy the rumour, sell the news reaction.

These are far from the only factors, but they explain most of the swings. For the stories behind them, follow our latest Binance Coin news.
