Binance Wallet launches pre-IPO campaigns via PancakeSwap
Binance Wallet enters the market for pre-IPO products. Via PancakeSwap, users will soon be able to indirectly bet on companies that may go public, even before an IPO takes place. The assets remain in the user’s own wallet. Which company will be the first to become available has not yet been announced.
In brief:
- Binance Wallet announces Pre-Access campaigns, hosted via PancakeSwap
- Users gain indirect and tokenised exposure to companies that may go public
- The first project will be revealed soon; assets remain in self-custody
Indirect entry before an IPO
With the Pre-Access campaigns, Binance Wallet offers users the opportunity to gain exposure to companies considering an IPO through tokenised positions. The campaigns are hosted via PancakeSwap and are accessible via Binance Wallet.
A notable feature is that the assets remain self-custodied: they are held in the user’s own wallet and are not kept by Binance. That fits within the broader development of tokenised stocks and investment products on the blockchain, a market in which BNB Chain previously took a leading position with more than $1 billion in tokenised stocks.
Alpha Points and onchain trading volume determine access
Users can increase their participation rights via Alpha Points and by building up onchain trading volume and holdings of bStocks. The greater the activity on the chain, the more access someone gains to the campaigns.
Which company will be the first to be made available via this system has not yet been announced. Binance Wallet indicates that the announcement will follow soon. The launch ties in with growing interest in tokenised investment products, a segment that according to Binance Research grew by 85% to a market of $34 billion.
