Buying pressure on Bitcoin has reached its highest level in years. Data from CryptoQuant shows that net buying pressure over the past 365 days has risen to more than $83 billion. That is the strongest level since the previous bear market. Up until March 2026, this figure was still negative, meaning sellers dominated for years. The Bitcoin price is currently at $79.700.

Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.

In brief:

  • Net buying pressure on Bitcoin over 365 days stands at more than $83 billion, the highest point in years.
  • Until March 2026, this figure was negative; since then, demand has clearly increased.
  • Futures still dominate trading volumes, but momentum in the spot market is improving.

Net buying pressure positive for the first time since the bear market

Analyst Darkfost shared the chart on X and explained how the figure is calculated. It concerns the cumulative difference between buy-side and sell-side spot volume on major exchanges, expressed in dollars over a 365-day period.

What stands out is that this figure remained negative until early this year. Only in March 2026 did the balance turn. Since then, net buying pressure has risen to more than $83 billion, indicating that cumulative annual demand now clearly exceeds selling. The Bitcoin price is approaching a critical level around $80.000, while this kind of data makes the underlying development of demand visible.

Futures still dominate, but the spot market is gaining ground

Darkfost does add a caveat to the data. Spot volumes do not make up the majority of trading flows on exchanges. Futures still dominate volume by a wide margin, meaning spot data represents only a limited part of the overall picture.

Still, he sees the direction changing. In his view, it is becoming increasingly clear that momentum is turning more positive. The same picture can be seen in other indicators: Bitcoin ETFs recently recorded three consecutive days of inflows of $175 million and open interest on Binance rose to $10 billion.

Whether the rise in buying pressure will translate into a higher price remains uncertain for now. The Bitcoin price is currently fluctuating around $79.700, virtually unchanged over the past 24 hours.
