Bitcoin realized profit reaches record high of $800 million in 2026
The average weekly net realised profit on Bitcoin reaches a new high for 2026. While the price moves toward $80.000, on-chain analysts register nearly $1 billion in realised profit over the past seven days. It is mainly short-term holders who are cashing in their positions, but the price holds because demand still compensates for the selling pressure.
Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.
In short:
- Bitcoin’s net realised profit reaches nearly $800 million, a record for 2026.
- Mainly short-term holders take profit while the price trades around $79.500.
- Analyst warns that the trend remains fragile and a reversal could come quickly.
Short-term holders take massive profits around $80.000
As Bitcoin climbs toward $80.000, the amount of realised profit also rises sharply. According to CryptoQuant data shared by on-chain analyst Darkfost, the weekly net realised profit currently amounts to nearly $800 million, the highest level of this year.
It is mainly short-term holders who are selling their Bitcoin after the recent price rise. Long-term holders are also selling around $80.000, but the current peak in realised profit is driven mainly by investors who have held their coins for a shorter period.
Demand still compensates for selling pressure
Despite the significant profit-taking, Bitcoin manages to hold the price around $79.500, up 0.7% over the past 24 hours. This is because the demand side is currently absorbing the selling pressure. How long that balance will hold is the question.
Darkfost warns that the situation is fragile. A shift in the behaviour of sellers or buyers could determine further price development in the short term. CryptoQuant previously indicated that Bitcoin is transitioning to a bull market, but the current on-chain data shows that this is not yet a foregone conclusion.
Other indicators also point to a sensitive moment. Rekt Capital previously stated that Bitcoin must hold higher levels to confirm a sustainable upward move. The bull score of Bitcoin jumped from 30 to 80 in one week, illustrating the improved market sentiment, but a record in realised profit could also put that upward line under pressure if demand weakens.
