BlackRock, the world’s largest asset manager, advocates for a modest but deliberate position in Bitcoin within traditional investment portfolios. BlackRock sees Bitcoin as a complement to traditional portfolios
BlackRock states that a small position in Bitcoin can increase a portfolio’s return potential without letting the risk profile get out of hand. It concerns a typical allocation of around 1 to 2%, which the firm sees as a prudent way to combine exposure to the cryptocurrency with responsible risk management.
Michael Gates, one of the experts at BlackRock, explains how Bitcoin’s unique properties can complement traditional portfolios. The idea is that Bitcoin is increasingly positioning itself as a serious diversifier alongside classic asset classes such as equities and bonds.
Growing institutional interest in Bitcoin
BlackRock’s comments align with a broader trend in which large institutional players are taking Bitcoin increasingly seriously. For instance, Strategy recently bought 520 Bitcoin after a share sale. At the same time, Bitcoin ETF flows have shown a negative balance for six consecutive weeks, indicating that investor sentiment remains mixed.
At the time of writing, the Bitcoin price stands at $62.000. up 0.6% in the past 24 hours. Whether BlackRock’s recommendation will have a noticeable short-term impact on the price remains to be seen. Yet the signal from the world’s largest asset manager clearly indicates that Bitcoin is increasingly earning a permanent place in institutional investment strategies.
