Hyperliquid buys back $283 million in tokens in 2026
Eight crypto projects have succeeded in buying back more tokens than their circulating supply increases since the start of 2026, according to data from Tokenomist. Hyperliquid leads the list in terms of absolute dollar value, while Meteora shows the greatest relative impact on its token supply.

Hyperliquid and Meteora dominate the buyback ranking
According to Tokenomist, Hyperliquid (HYPE) has bought back as much as $283.43 million worth of tokens since 1 January 2026. That is equivalent to approximately 3% of the total supply. At the same time, the circulating supply of HYPE is decreasing by 11% over the same period, meaning the net effect on supply is significantly positive for holders. The Hyperliquid price currently stands at $67.97, an increase of 7.1% in the past 24 hours.
Meteora (MET) has the greatest relative impact of all projects on the list. The circulating supply of MET is growing by only 13%, while the buybacks amount to as much as 71% of the supply that was available on 1 January. This results in a net difference of +57.87%, the highest figure in the entire ranking. The total buyback value of Meteora is $45.75 million.
Pump.fun, GMX and Aave also actively buy back tokens
Pump.fun is in second place with a net difference of +31.50% and a buyback of $71.12 million, the highest absolute value after Hyperliquid. GMX follows in third place with $14.88 million in buybacks and a net difference of +19.91%. Rollbit and Metaplex complete the top five with +17.78% ($12.37 million) and +16.62% ($1.54 million) respectively.
At the bottom of the list are Lighter and Aave. Lighter buys back $3.46 million and realises a net difference of +0.74%. Aave achieves a net difference of +0.13% with $13.77 million in buybacks. Although these percentages are modest, they indicate that these projects too are succeeding in controlling their token supply through active buyback programmes. The data runs through to 30 June 2026.
