Analyst Michaël van de Poppe is keeping a close eye on the Bitcoin price. According to him, the price is currently moving sideways, but the upward trend is not over yet. In the event of a breakout above $79.500, he expects Bitcoin to climb to $82.700, with $90.000 as a possible next level. At the time of writing, Bitcoin stands at $79.000, a decline of 1.2% over the past 24 hours.

Bitcoin is available at OKX and Bybit.

In short:

  • Bitcoin is moving sideways around $79.000, but Van de Poppe sees the upward move as not yet over.
  • A breakout above $79.500 could, in his view, lead to a test of $82.700.
  • Altcoins are reacting sensitively to a correction in Bitcoin, the analyst warns.

Sideways movement, but upward trend intact

Van de Poppe describes Bitcoin’s current price action as an indecisive sideways movement. Nevertheless, he does not see this as a signal that the rally is over. The price is fluctuating around $79.000, which he sees as a consolidation phase within an ongoing upward trend.

In a recent earlier analysis, Van de Poppe already pointed to the $82.600 level as a possible price target. He now seems to confirm that expectation and even raise it.

Breakout above $79.500 determines the next target

According to Van de Poppe, $79.500 is the crucial level to watch. If the price moves above that level, he expects $82.700 to be tested as a resistance level. On further strength, he cites $90.000 as a potential next target, although he stresses that this is still another step away.

At the same time, he warns that altcoins are vulnerable as soon as Bitcoin corrects even slightly. A small pullback in Bitcoin can lead to a sharper decline in altcoins. Earlier, CryptoQuant already pointed out that Bitcoin is showing signs of a broader bull market, which supports Van de Poppe’s current view.
