The number of new listings on centralized crypto exchanges more than doubled in August 2026. According to data from CryptoRank, the total rose to 199 listings, compared with 98 in July. That is an increase of 103%. MEXC topped the list with 78 new listings, while OKX grew notably from just 3 to 24 listings. Improved market sentiment and an increase in tokenised stocks helped drive the recovery.

In short:

  • CEX listings rose by 103% in August 2026 to 199 in total
  • MEXC was active with 78 listings, OKX grew strongly from 3 to 24
  • Improved market sentiment and tokenised stocks helped fuel the rise

MEXC and OKX dominate listing activity

Of the 199 new listings in August, 78 came from MEXC, making the exchange by far the most active. Binance followed at a distance with 42 new additions, ahead of OKX with 24 and KuCoin with 15.

The most notable move comes from OKX, which had just 3 new listings in July and jumped to 24 in August. Gate recorded 12 new listings, Bitget 10, and Bybit and HTX 1 each.

Recovery after months of decline

CryptoRank’s chart shows that the number of CEX listings had fallen sharply in recent months. In August 2025, the total still peaked at 361 listings. After that, the number steadily declined to a low of 82 in May 2026, after which June and July showed a slight recovery.

The recovery in August is therefore the strongest monthly increase in more than a year. CryptoRank points to two factors: improved market sentiment and a growing supply of tokenised stocks as a new category of listings. Whether that recovery continues will also depend on broader market conditions. Bitcoin buying pressure is currently at its highest level since the bear market, which points to growing interest from investors.
