On 21 August, Uniswap set a new daily record for the burning of UNI tokens. In total, approximately $590.000 worth of UNI was removed from circulation that day, the highest daily amount ever measured in dollars. In token terms, this amounts to 150,000 UNI, which is the second highest daily amount ever burned in a single day.

UNI is available at OKX and Bybit.

In short:

  • On 21 August, $590k worth of UNI was burned, a new daily record in dollars
  • Ethereum accounted for $267k of the total, followed by Base ($165k) and Robinhood Chain ($87k)
  • In token terms, it is the second highest daily burn ever

Ethereum and Base dominate the burn

Of the $590.000 burned on 21 August, the largest share came from the Ethereum network, with $267k in UNI burned. The Base network followed with $165k, while Robinhood Chain accounted for $87k.

The chart from WuBlockchain shows that the daily burn has remained at a relatively constant level for some time, but there are regular outliers. The peak of 21 August is clearly the highest in the measured period, which began at the end of January 2026.

Record burn in dollars, second place in tokens

The difference between the dollar and token rankings has to do with the UNI price. In USD, 21 August is the absolute record day, but in tokens the day ranks second. This means that more UNI was burned on an earlier day, but those tokens were worth less at the time.

Token burning reduces the total supply of a coin, which, with demand remaining constant, can put upward pressure on the price. Uniswap uses this mechanism to return value to the UNI community. Ethereum is currently trading at $2.4K, an increase of 0.3% in the past 24 hours.
