Crypto hacks cost over $210 million in July 2026
The crypto sector took some heavy hits from hackers in July 2026. A total of 30 major attacks were recorded, with combined losses of $210.3 million. That is a rise of 177.2% compared with June, when total losses came to $75.87 million.
In brief:
- In July 2026, 30 major crypto hacks took place, with total losses of $210.3 million.
- The attack on Coldcard Wallet was the largest of the month, with losses of approximately $70 million.
- It is the third largest crypto theft of 2026 so far.
Coldcard Wallet hit hardest
The Coldcard Wallet hack stands out by far. Users lost approximately $70 million, making this incident the third largest crypto theft of the year. Only the attacks on Drift and the combined exploit of KelpDAO and LayerZero were larger.
In second and third place are AFX on the Arbitrum network and Ostium, both with losses of approximately $24 million. Next comes Bonk Inu with $21.2 million in losses, followed by the Cardano to BNB bridge of Wanchain, from which attackers made off with $13 million.
Further damage from smaller attacks
The rest of the top ten consists of TripleA ($10 million), Bonzo Lend ($9.05 million), the Ethereum bridge of Verus Coin ($7.5 million), Wemix ($6.25 million) and Summer Finance ($6 million). Together, these attacks account for tens of millions of dollars in additional losses on top of the larger incidents.
Monthly fluctuations in hack losses have been considerable this year. In April, the total peaked at $646.89 million, followed by a sharp decline in May and June to $81.7 million and $75.87 million, respectively. July once again shows an upward movement. Binance Research previously concluded that the crypto market contracted broadly in the first half of 2026, and security issues remain a recurring theme.
