The majority of major cryptocurrencies remain below the level at which the year began after nine months of 2026. Bitcoin falls 3.3% to $84K, while Ethereum has dropped 7.4%. Only Hyperliquid, Zcash and Tron are performing positively year to date.

In brief:

  • Most major cryptocurrencies are below their starting price for 2026
  • Only Hyperliquid, Zcash and Tron show positive year-to-date performance
  • Analysts advise a longer investment horizon

Unexpected winners and losers

Performance varies widely. Hyperliquid shoots up with a gain of 269.9% to $95.28. Zcash does even better with a rise of 196.5% to $1.514. Tron is up 21.1% year to date at $344.

The big losers are Cardano, down 27.8% to $241, and Dogecoin, down 20.5% to $0.0932. XRP is 19.6% lower at $1.48. Solana (down 10.3%), BNB (down 10.0%), Bitcoin (down 3.3%) and Ethereum (down 7.4%) have also had a hard time.

Investors advised to keep perspective

The advice circulating in the market is to extend your investment horizon. Instead of following daily price movements, it would help to look at least a year ahead. This perspective makes a big difference to how you view the current market.

With Bitcoin currently at $85K and a 24-hour rise of 5.9%, that advice seems to be becoming increasingly relevant for investors who are frustrated by this year’s performance.
