On-chain researcher ZachXBT has challenged Arthur Hayes’s trading behaviour. The analyst suggests that Hayes uses his followers to create exit liquidity before closing his positions. This pattern is said to have repeated with multiple tokens, including World Coin (WLD), Near Protocol (NEAR), Hyperliquid (HYPE) and Zcash (ZEC).

Hayes defends his trading actions

Following ZachXBT’s critical comments, Hayes replied that he had simply made the right decision based on his trading objectives. The BitMEX founder claims that his trades were logical given his strategy. Hayes earlier announced that he had fully exited his WLD position.

However, ZachXBT sees a pattern that is difficult to explain. The analyst points out that Hayes repeatedly gave bullish comments on WLD before suddenly liquidating his entire position. This kind of behaviour raises questions about the timing and motives behind the trades.

A recurring pattern

The alleged behaviour is not unique to WLD. ZachXBT documented similar patterns with NEAR, HYPE and ZEC, where Hayes remained bullish each time until he closed his positions. Hyperliquid (HYPE) currently stands at $56,18. down 5.2% in the last 24 hours.

ZachXBT’s criticism touches on an important theme in the crypto market: the role of influencers and well-known traders in shaping sentiment. When big names turn bullish on tokens and then quickly sell, ordinary investors can end up absorbing the financial damage.
